The American Saddlebred Horse Association of Virginia, ASHAV honors an individual who, while not actively competing, consistently goes above and beyond to support ASHAV members, events and the American Saddlebred community. This was created in memory of its first recipient, Mike Ohlson.

 

​Nominees should demonstrate the following qualities:

1. Actively encourage and cheer on ASHAV members at shows, events and activities.

2. Contribute time, skills or resources to help others succeed.

3. Create a welcoming and uplifting atmosphere for participants, spectators, and volunteers.

4. Help promote the American Saddlebred breed and its community.

5. Inspired others through kindness, generosity and selfless actions

All nominations must be submitted by 01/30/2026 to be considered for the 2026 year. Nominations will be reviewed by the ASHAV Executive Board and inductees will be announced and honored during the annual ASHAV Convention in March.
