With an ancestry originating in colonial America, the American Saddlebred Horse has developed into America's most versatile horse. The ideal American Saddlebred is a well-proportioned beautiful animal with an average height of 15 to 16 hands and an average weight of 1,000 to 1,200 pounds.

American Saddlebreds compete in dressage and combined training as well as endurance and competitive trail riding. They are used for carriage driving, cutting cattle and all forms of pleasure riding and driving.
